A mysterious ice rink has been spotted in the Toronto Financial District. This rink is high in the sky, on top of a building in the Adelaide Street West area.
Speculation as to the purpose of the rink has run rampant. Leading theories are summarized below:
New Practice Rink for the Toronto Maple Leafs
Unlike recent coaches of the Leafs, Mike Babcock has the team playing some respectable hockey with a fresh approach to team unison. Rumour has it, Babcock is now having the rink built as new practice ice for the Buds. Picture Rocky Balboa training in the outdoor elements of Siberia to defeat his rivals. “I must destroy you”.
All Star Game for Toronto Sport & Social Club Teams
TSSC has several ice hockey leagues all over town, including the Beaches, Upper Canada College and Mastercard Centre. Could this possibly be the home to a mid-season all-star game involving the best players from all Sport & Social leagues?
Drake Expands Ambassador Role, Learns to Skate in Penthouse
Taking his relationship one step further with MLSE, gossip suggests Drake will also become the global ambassador for the Leafs. This rink could potentially be above the penthouse suite he stays in when in town. Rumours indicate he is taking power skating lessons to gain street cred.
Beer Promo
It’s probably too obvious to be true, but last year’s Molson Canadian #AnythingforHockey campaign showcased ice hockey players in the mountains of British Columbia. Perhaps this is the next big rink as shown in their teaser ad for rooftop hockey?
Any other ideas as to what this rink could be used for? Throw them out there. Either way, watch out for falling rubber when walking downtown.
